My son wants to get his own personal credit card. He will be 18 in a few months and I am considering letting him apply then. I told him it would be a good idea to keep track of his credit status by using a free yearly credit report. However, I am not sure if this service is available to an 18 year old or if you must be 21 years of age to be eligible? I would assume that anyone who is eligible to get a credit card would also be eligible for the free report. Does anyone know if that is the case or if a person must be 21 to get their free credit report?
