Lotus Sutra And Tendai Teachings
September 1, 2010 8:56 am Reference and EducationTendai Buddhism as conceptualized by Saciho years back is known to be based on the fundamentals of the Chinese Tiantai Dashi ZHI-yi’s. This in turn is said to be an adaptation of the doctrines of the lotus sutra. This brings us to the strong connection that lotus sutra and Tendai teachings share with one another.
The teachings are known to be broadly categorized into two divisions in form of chapters. While the first division is said to contain 14 chapters, the second one too has 14 chapters respectively. Both divisions talk about several essential facts of life. The first division speaks at length about every person’s ability to reach the higher state of life as commonly referred to as Buddhahood.
The second division on the other hand, helps shed dome light on the universal application of the Buddhist teachings and the eternity attached to Shakyamuni.
