A manometer is simply an instrument for measuring gases or fluids.  The best well-known type is what we so commonly see in our doctor’s office…the sphygmomanometer or blood pressure gauge.  Instrumentation training gives instruction in the uses of these pneumatic devices as it relates to industry and manufacturing.  This particular field does require that the student have a substantial background in algebra.  Calibration of these gauges is taught for this specialized area of expertise.  It is vital that one have an understanding of what factors should be considered in the pressure readings and their accuracy.  As with taking a blood pressure, remaining still and quiet will lead to a much more accurate reading.
