June 17, 2010 7:01 am Kids and TeensWhen hip hop burst onto the scene back in the early seventies it was seen as a rebellion against the well known music types such as disco and rock and roll.With clubs and ghettos opening up all over New York, hip hop was welcomed as an alternative and loved by many.Nevertheless, as styles of hip hop and download loops changed over the years, lyrics became harsher as ‘Gangsta Rap’ took over. Famous rappers, such as Chuck D and N.W.A, spoke about run ins with the police and gang violence and rap was seen as more of a culture than kind of music.
