My View On “Boom in Debt Buying Fuels Another Boom—in Lawsuits”

Almost all agencies record their conversations so they have proof that they didn’t (or you that they did) violate the FDCPA. You can file a complaint with the state (typically its the State AG’s office though) but if they find no wrong doing by the agency you are not off the hook. Don’t spread false information or give what appears to be quasi-legal advice forum advice. BTW, their next step, once they’ve proven that the FDCPA hasn’t been violated, is to SUE YOU!!! Why, because they they can prove you owe the debt (or try), they’ll garinsh your wages (in most states), and may not have to call you again. Oh and they’ll slap a judgment on your credit file for a number years (varies by state).
